Maria G. Ocanto was born in New York City, grew up in Miami and returned to New York in 1993 to study dance and art. She graduated from Hunter College with a Masters in Combined Media and has been creating video pieces that combine her interests in movement, music and painting. She is a professor of digital media and is currently teaching herself how to play the acoustic guitar among other things.
